Guiseley Vixens 1-2 Sunderland Ladies

Guiseley Vixens Manager Ashley Thompson

Guiseley Vixens suffered a 2-1 loss to Sunderland Ladies yesterday in the FA Women's National League Northern Premier Division.

Sunderland took the lead on 34 minutes thanks to a goal from Keira Ramshaw in front of the Nethermoor crowd and the advantage was doubled on 66 minutes as Georgia Gibson added the second.

The Vixens reduced the deficit on 69 minutes as Monika Stube scored her first competitive goal for the club and moments after Sunderland were reduced to ten players as Ramshaw was sent off.

However it wasn't to be for Guiseley as the visitors saw the game out to claim the three points.

The result sees The Vixens remain in 8th place in the division.

Speaking after the game Guiseley Vixens Manager Ashley Thompson said: "I thought we were unlucky not to get anything out of today’s game because we were excellent in the second half.

"I’m disappointed with the goals we conceded. There is a blatant foul in the build up to the first goal and the second comes from really sloppy play on the half way line.

"Yet again we can say we have more than matched a side at the top of this division. We were the better side in the second half before the red card, we just couldn’t get the equaliser."

He added: "It was always going to be tough to get a result having played on Thursday, but the players work rate and attitude didn’t drop which is pleasing to see."

The Vixens return to action on April 28th when they make the trip to the Stafflex Arena to take on fellow West Yorkshire side Huddersfield Town Ladies.
