Carlton Athletic secured their third successive league title in style on Saturday as they ran out 9-0 winners over Wyke Wanderers at Carlton Cricket Club.

Charlie Thompson led the way for Mark Pitts' side with a hat-trick whilst Reece Fennell scored a brace. There were also goals for Joseph Kenny, James Kitson, Anees Younis and substitute Harvey Walker.

The league title becomes Carlton's second piece of silverware of the season after they won the West Riding County Challenge Cup earlier this month.

The Wakefield based side also have another chance of glory when they take on Whitkirk Wanderers at Elland Road in the final of the Leeds District FA Cup on May 23rd.

Elsewhere Leeds City claimed the runners up spot in the division after beating third place Beeston St Anthony's 4-1 at The Adel War Memorial Association.

And South Leeds side Hunslet Club had a winning end to their campaign as they recorded a 4-1 win over Huddersfield Amateur at Old Earth. Adam Simpson hit a brace for Hunslet and there were also goals for Kieran Corley and Kyle Swithenbank.

Meanwhile Headingley lost 2-1 to Robin Hood Athletic at the Weetwood Playing Fields. Oliver Carter was on target for Headingley whilst Lee Bennett and Ryan Ferguson scored for Robin Hood who had Lewis Richardson sent-off.

The result means Headingley's survival hopes now rest on the outcome of their game with Field which was abandoned earlier this month with the scores tied at 1-1 after a spectator is said to have displayed threatening behaviour towards the referee.

A decision from the league as to what process will be followed in respect of the fixture is expected shortly, with Headingley requiring a point to ensure Premier Division survival.
