Armthorpe Welfare 0-2 Nostell Miners Welfare

Nostell Miners Welfare returned to West Yorkshire with all three points this afternoon as they secured a 2-0 win over Armthorpe Welfare in the Northern Counties East League Division One.

Nostell went ahead on 21 minutes thanks to a goal from Andrew Horbury in front of the 92 spectators at the M Pilbeam Construction Stadium.

And the advantage was doubled eleven minutes from time as Jack Owen scored his 18th goal of the season to seal the victory.

The result sees Nostell move on to 71 points whilst remaining in 5th place in the league with one game remaining.

Speaking after today's match Nostell Miners Welfare Joint Manager Jason Dodsworth said: "Three points in the sun. Good performance from us today in really warm weather. I think we deserved the points and were the better team today.

"First half seemed to have the end of season stroll in the park attitude but we spoke at half-time and said we don’t want to finish the season that way and credit to the lads second half we were a lot better and could have won by a few more.

"Armthorpe put us under a bit of pressure to be fair but without really creating any clear chances."

He added: "Happy with the points and another clean sheet for our defence who have been outstanding this season."

Nostell finish off their campaign next Saturday when they make the trip to North Yorkshire to take on Selby Town (15:00).
