Steeton 0-2 Bacup Borough

Steeton Manager Roy Mason

Steeton fell to defeat at the hands of Bacup Borough yesterday as the Lancashire side secured a 2-0 win at Cougar Park in the North West Counties League First Division North.

The visitors took the lead on 37 minutes as the ball struck Jordan Villette's leg and found the back of the net after a challenge from Bacup's Matthew Bryan.

Borough doubled their advantage on 66 minutes as Anthony Hall scored the final goal of the afternoon in front of the 101 spectators.

The result sees The Chevrons remain in 14th place in the division as their debut season in the division nears it's end with just three games remaining.

Speaking about yesterday's match Steeton Manager Roy Mason said: "It was a frustrating game from our perspective as we didn’t really get going and we didn’t create any meaningful chances and the creative football we’ve been playing in the past few weeks wasn’t there yesterday and I felt that Bacup had a bit more desire to get tackles in and they looked to get bodies forward at every opportunity."

He added: "It’s been a long season and I think we are now looking a bit tired and I’ll be looking to freshen things up a bit on Tuesday night when we travel to Carlisle."
