Steeton recorded their biggest win of the season yesterday as they ran out 6-1 winners over Daisy Hill in the North West Counties League First Division North.

The visitors took the lead on 11 minutes thanks to a goal from Nicholas Hepple in front of the 96 spectators at Cougar Park.

However The Chevrons hit back as Sam Rooke levelled matters on 29 minutes before Angus Maney put them 2-1 up on 38 minutes.

With the half-time whistle approaching Steeton went further ahead as Ben Clarkson hit his first of the afternoon to make it 3-1.

The afternoon got better for Roy Mason's side in the second period as Clarkson claimed his second of the game on 52 minutes to make it 4-1 and shortly after Jack Richmond added a 5th.

The final goal of the game came four minutes from time as Richmond netted his second of the afternoon to make it 6-1.

The result sees Steeton move onto 42 points whilst remaining in 14th place in the division.

Steeton Manager Roy Mason

Steeton Manager Roy Mason said: "It was very pleasing to get our biggest win of the season and I have to say that given the way we have been playing I knew at some point we would go out and and get a result like that before the season was out.

"That said in the first twenty minutes Daisy Hill were the better side and created the better chances and we didn’t really start playing until we equalised."

He concluded: "It was nice to see quite a few new supporters down and put on a show for them.

"It’s important now that we maintain our form over the last four games and look to finish the season off strongly."

Next up for Steeton is a home game with Bacup Borough on Saturday (15:00).
