Swallownest 2-0 Nostell Miners Welfare

Nostell Miners Welfare saw their 13 game unbeaten run come to an end yesterday as they fell to a 2-0 loss at the hands of Swallownest in the Northern Counties East League Division One.

Swallownest went ahead on 11 minutes thanks to a goal from Nathan Morritt and the second came 15 minutes from time as Oliver Grady converted from the penalty spot in front of the Rotherham Road crowd.

The result means Nostell drop to 5th spot in the division.

Speaking after the game Welfare Joint Manager Jason Dodsworth said: "It was probably our worst performance of the season. Nothing went right from the first whistle and we looked totally out of sorts.

"I lost count how many times we gave possession away and it gives us plenty to think about for next week.

"We want to finish the season strong and I’m afraid today we let the supporters and committee down and performances like those aren’t acceptable."

He added: "Full credit to Swallownest they were the better team on the day and deserved the win."

Next up for Nostell is a trip to the TJ's Travel Arena to take on Glasshoughton Welfare on Friday night (19:45).
